KRABI TOWN the capital of Krabi Province, sits a little upstream from the mouth of the Krabi River and is mainly Krabi is 784 km south of Bangkok by road.
Krabi Town is, in reality, two towns. There is the dusty strip-mall of a town that borders Rte 4. And then there is the quite congenial and pleasant town of Krabi proper. The town's 50,000+ inhabitants see few of the droves of tourists that pass through on their way to the beaches. This is unfortunate, as those who stay find it a relaxed place that is worth exploring for a day or two, where they experience "the real Thailand" Read more
Ao nang Beach ( Sometimes known as " Ao Phra nang" a name the Tourist Authority of Thailand devised some years back, but which never really caught on ) is the most " westernized" beach in Krabi.Originally a backpacker hotspot,it is now moving rapidly towards the package tourist crowd as the airport brings in more charter flights with each season. While not quite as Rai lay, there is good range of accommodation, many good restaurants , easy transport and travel/tour agencies ready to cater to your every whim, make it good base for exploring Krabi. Railey beach also known as Rai Leh, is a small peninsula between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand. It is accessible only by boat due to high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Accommodation ranges from bungalows and medium-priced resorts in East Railay to a collection of luxury resorts focused on West Railay, though one, Rajavadee, spans both waterfronts and also has a beachfront restaurant at Ao Phra Nang. The four main areas of Railay consist of Phra Nang, West Railay, East Railay, and Ton Sai. Ton Sai caters to climbers and the backpacker set and is more rustic in character than the glitz of West Railay and the shops and restaurants of the East Railay boardwalk. Read more
Tubkaak Beach is splendidly isolated and the ideal place for a quiet and unobtrusive holiday.Western-facing and with great views of the unusual islands that dot the Andaman Sea, Tubkaak is a unique destination.Half an hour’s drive from Ao Nang heading north west up the coast is isolated Tubkaek Beach. It is an ethereally beautiful place.Powdery white sand gives way to the shallow-shelving waters of the Andamans. Around are dotted beautiful
and very oddly shaped islands. It seems almost like a beachfront view created by Tolkien. It’s marred a little by any look southward where a huge industrial pier of decaying twisted metal The northern end of the beach is national park and indeed the surrounds of Tubkaek as a whole have a fairly jungly wooded feel.
